In January 2022, I began drawing stick people and I continued drawing them almost every day throughout the year, to represent people who have been displaced as a result of conflict, climate change and poverty. According to the UNHCR, a record number of 100 million people were displaced in 2022. By the end of the year I had finished drawing 100,000 stick people, each one representing 1000 people to make 100 million. That figure is rising faster and faster with the growth having become almost exponential now. I wanted to give people an idea of what that number looks like, the crisis that we are all facing the the changes that we need to make to overthrow the capitalist system that creates refugees and migrants.
